What is Net Zero, and how do you get there? Speakers in this year’s GCDCS session on sustainability in the data centre had lots of ideas on how operators can make this a reality.
Led by facilitator Mary Allen (InsightaaS), panelists Peter Gross (Virtual Power Systems), Susanna Kass (InfraPrime), Francois Sterin (OVHcloud), Jim Kaligiros (Schneider Electric Canada) each worked in the first afternoon session of GCDCS21 to build urgency around the need to double down on data centre sustainability. Panelists outlined strategies around renewables and battery storage, circular design and life cycle assessment in operations, energy management, conservation, and reuse, and ongoing technology innovation, such as immersion cooling, as the basis for building towards Net Zero.
