InsightaaS: Relying on the combined wisdom of “a picture is worth a thousand words” and “it takes a long time to write a thousand words,” I’m always on the lookout for infographics that provide relevant commentary on the subjects that are covered on ATN. Today’s feature qualifies on both counts. I’m on record as saying that 2014 would be the year of gamification. In retrospect, I’m not entirely sure what I meant by that, and whatever it was, it probably didn’t really happen…but as we’re constantly reminded, technologies are generally overestimated in the near term, and underestimated in the long term. Gamification is a good example: like many other IT and related trends (video, change management…) it is more likely to appear as part of other offerings than as a discrete market on its own, but it’s important nonetheless to how applications evolve and connect with the needs of the businesses that buy and deploy them.
