InsightaaS: Michael Krigsman — well-known IT expert and author of the widely-read Beyond IT Failure blog on ZDNet – has published a piece in the excellent Enterprise Irregulars blog site highlighting three promising startups that he spoke with at the recent Dreamforce conference. As interesting as the companies themselves is the rationale given by Krigsman for selecting the firms: product, passion, concept clarity and a willingness to learn factor heavily in his evaluation.
As someone focused on enterprise innovation, particularly related to activities by the CIO and CMO, I pay close attention to startups. While large or established organizations bring scale and process to enterprise technology, startups are where to find people pushing the boundaries of what is possible, interesting, and useful.
For that reason, I visited with a number of startups while attending Dreamforce, Salesforce.com’s huge gathering of cloud aficionados last week in San Francisco. Among the companies I saw at Dreamforce, several stood out because they possess five qualities:
