Canada’s Centre of Excellence for wireless commercialization and research, Wavefront’s mission is to “accelerate the growth and success of wireless companies by connecting them with critical resources, partners and opportunities, to drive economic and social benefits for Canada.” The organization provides services in five key areas: accelerator and mentorship programs, advisory services, market linkages, technical services, funding and training. A key piece of this last mandate is the Wavefront Summit, an annual conference devoted to networking and education of the wireless community. This year’s Summit will focus on developing awareness and understanding of the challenge and potential in two technologies that are critically important to both wireless providers and other business segments. With additional support announced last November from the Canada Accelerator and Incubator Program (CAIP) aimed at helping Wavefront expand the reach and capacity of its programs for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in the mobile and Internet of Things sectors, the organization has built this year’s Summit program around these emerging technology opportunities.
